This week is spring break in The Bahamas and the streets are full of tourists most of whom come in off the cruise ships that park in the wharf for the day. They come to soak in the sunshine, go shopping, and get drunk in the many bars that line the bay. Also lining the bay are many vendors looking to make a dollar by selling handicrafts to visitors as they walk past engaged in conversation with their families or fellow spring breakers. This street artist sparked my attention because he was trying to sell paintings depicting the beauty of the Bahamas the way visitors see it. What they don't see is the reality he has to live every day behind the sunshine, beaches, and palm trees.
